Default SoundOff - Zend Certified Engineers

If you are a zend certified engineer we want to hear from you. I know of only one from our members so far but I will talk to Ryan about getting a special icon for them to celebrate their accomplishment. We support the certification and really think it is a great way to stand apart. Again welcome!

For those that want more information about the certification, please visit the zend website. http://zend.com/store/education/cert...tification.php

I have added this as a new feature. To join this usergroup and have the banner under your name you need to follow these instructions:
  1. Click User CP at the top of page.
  2. Click Group Memberships on the left hand side.
  3. Then click join Zend Certified usergroup.
  4. PM me a link to your certification on Zend's website.
  5. Once you are approved go back to the Group Memberships and Identify yourself as a Zend Certified user.

That's it. Follow those steps and you will have the banner under your username! :)

Hi there

I've been programming PHP for a long time, and didn't doubt for a second to get certified, which I did last December. For the moment there are not many people certified (little more than 300 in the world), so it really can set you apart. In my case, it has served me very well for my career.

Cheers,
Alejandro

Alejandro,

Are you interested in becoming part of the Zend Certified usergroup? If so follow the instructions above.

Also, I sent you a PM. :)

Alejandro,

You've been updated and placed into the Zend Usergroup. If you notice now you have an image under your name. This may change in the near future to something more flashy. :)

Hey Ryan, I'm part of the Dallas PHP Users Group and we're actually getting ready to take the exam in July... so I'm sure I'll be a part of this list in here... what I wanted to know was - is it cool to drop the link to the DPUG site with info for anyone in the DFW area? We're being sponsored by Zend and get half price + the books.

Sure that doesn't sound like a problem.

Cool, thanks.

Well, here's the link - if you're in the area or can make it to the area - you can participate in this as well... bad part is - the deadline for registrations is June 10th lol

Thanks Ryan

Neat idea! (The special icon.) I haven't gotten certified because I'm too darn busy programming. ;)

I'm going to go for it eventually, though. I'll have to brush up on some of the built-in stuff, I've gotten so used to using my custom classes, etc.

Alejandro, how was the test?

I think the main goal of the exam is to test your experience with PHP. There are many questions that will try to test your knowledge about PHP's little idiosyncrasies. Also some abstract questions about web programming engineering. No questions about uncommon extensions, and everything is PHP4 related only.
Overall, I would say that if you have programmed in PHP for many years and is something you have to work with daily, it will be easy to pass (by the way, when you finish taking the test the computer will tell you immediately whether you passed or not. No score though)

Cheers,

Great, good to know. Definitely more important to understand the implementation and usage of PHP than some obscure details, at least for a "Zend Certified Engineer".

Looking forward to taking the test probably this fall.

Wow only 601 People have passed and 28 of those live in the UK
$200 is about £110. I would love to try and get one of these. Although is the exam timed at all?
Glad they have a few test centers in Scotland :)

BTW, is there any book or something which helps in preparing or the exam is just your knowledge about PHP

Might sound a silly question, but is it worth buying those books, or it can be achived by just practicing PHP

Have you tried the Self Test page? If you find stuff like that easy then maybe go striaght ahead but since its $200 (around £110) you may want to make sure you pass it first time.
