Default Programmer Tasks?

I get bored a lot of what I'm doing why not have a community based competition weekly or monthly on things, that meets certain requirements, winner gets a forum award and, losers get to learn from other members, which is always a plus in my book.

The problem with the 'competitions' in the past is that there was never any particular organisation with them. They were just posted up and left to run their course without any structure, 'winner' or much in the way of comments, constructive criticism or indeed much discussion of any kind around the posted submissions.

I'm all for fun little events, however unofficial and/or unorganised, because they're always a nice challenge.

I have been a member on CGTalk for a while and they have competitions. What they mainly do is have the admins and mods set the competitions and in their own sections and set a close date depending on how long they think it will take. If people have their own ideas of course there can be a section in the competition section that ppl can post their ideas and then the admins read through them and pick which one to do maybe have a couple running at once or just one.
