Default PHP security using ssl

I have just been thrown into something I have no idea about. I need to set up a site that uses ssl certificates. Can anyone help get me started on this by pointing me in the direction of some tutorials or some things I should google.

Thanks you for any help you can give.

Basically, just use https:// instead of http:// on pages that are using SSL.

You probably will not want to use https on every page, because it does tend to be more resource heavy than plain old http.

As for registering and using SSL certificates I'm pretty sure that can all be handled through your domain registrar and web host control panels.
