I've been trying to select information from a database using a LIKE query. Now the problem is, the users input could be something like 'agape', but in the database it could say 'agapè'. Vise versa of course, the user could input 'agapè' and the database could say 'agape'. Now, how do I match those two string to each other.

I've been trying and trying but I can't seem to get it to work. I've even read the mySQL manual partially but couldn't find anything...

I'm not sure if you can or not, because è is not the same character as e, same with ø != ö. So you need a script to generate an expression if it finds this character and its dialects, even though thats a stupid way around the problem, you might want to have a look at INTL: http://www.php.net/intl to see if its any help
