Default PHPTAL Macros file

I am trying to change my CMS's design. It uses PHPTAL as its template engine. But, I am having difficulties finding some tutorials or tips on how to create the macros file for the new design. Anyone know of any good ideas that can help me out besides looking at the current macros file?
