Default Help: Php User Messenger system with ajax

Does anyone have any pointers on how i can create this and implement it into my already made user system? A tutorial if its available would be incredible.

well, all you really need to do is make a JS function that calls the DB every couple seconds to check for new messages.

Implementing it should be rather easy, create a .js file that will power the messenger box and call it inside of the web pages.

i Would suggest that you look into maybe Prototype JS.

They have a nifty function for repeated AJAX calls.
And as i understand this function also helps keep down unesscesary calls.

Prototype JavaScript framework: Ajax.Ajax.PeriodicalUpdater

I havent used it myself yet but planing on in some future project.
