TalkPHP - PHP Remote Plugins System

Hey guys first topic I'll make here will be about a topic everyone seems to be interested in at the moment, and that is Plugins.

Plugins on websites are a big hit right now and more and more 'Web 2.0' applications support user created modules, widgets, plugins, extensions whatever you want to call them.

I myself am most interested in the concept of creating a system that allows you to offer the feature of self-created plugins for your own personal use.

This is currently done on websites such as netvibes.com and facebook.com, and I have a concept of how it would be made:

You offer the users a library that grabs information from your system and gives them functionality of ouputting that data in such format, which when linked to from your 'plugin system' is parseable into working code on the fly.

I have so many ideas how to implement this but I have no idea where to start.
