I am trying to insert data into a MEDIUMTEXT field that contains " and I continue to get a MySQL error, so I have do this: \" but that breaks the HTML that I'm adding.

What can I do?

can you post some sample data?

meanwhile try doing this,

$data = mysql_escape_string($data);
or
$data = addslashes($data);//be careful if magic quotes are on

This is being done though PHPmyadmin. HEre's the error:
