Help!!!
Hello,
I'm not getting a reply so maybe I babbled too much. Can anyone tell me why I can't get apache server to recognize my PHP install? I tried a test script to see if it worked and it didn't. The script is one that just used the Echo command to print out to the browser. My browser MSIE 8.? tried to download the script? I installed the latest version of PHP. HELP Please. I'm using a Vistal Lap top with AMD processor, plenty of ram, etc, etc,. I downloaded Apache Lite server with mySql etc, as well as Netbeans to use for PHP programming. I just need to get the PHP install correct? I tried to insure I read the read me file, but not luck following the instructions. I'm obviously doing something wrong? HELP? Thanks Tim |
In your previous post you mentioned something about Winamp. I think what you meant to say was WAMP. Unless of course you're attempting to play your PHP files. I don't suppose they'd play such a pretty tune! Nonetheless, WAMP will install everything for you. It will also configure it all correctly. The chances are, if you're attempting to set it up yourself, then you've not associated the PHP extensions to PHP from within Apache, or missed some other vital step.
Please tell me if you have tried to download WAMP so I can help you further. See this link for WAMP. |
Hello. I did install Wamp, the other install I tried was Xamplite I believe, and it also didn't work with PHP files, but did work with HTML files. So from past experience with IIS and ASP, etc, I'd guess it's that the PHP DLL or whatever the interpruter is, isn't being used because of a config file problem, but that's just a wild guess from a guy who's only used ASP and Dot net.. I tried installing WAMP and it didn't work at all, so I looked on the web at the site you suggested and found a forum that had a post that said if you have "Inetpub" which I did have for my WebDev Express DotNet development, Apache won't work. So, I deleted that folder and un-installed WAMP, and I'm going to try again. The post that explained having Inetpub as the problem didn't say why this is a problem, so I am just shooting in the dark. I have another post on this same forum, so you might see it to see my results. Too much writing.. hehe.. I'm trying again, and I'm in a hurry because I have a web site that I need to get finished in about 3 weeks. I could do it in Dot Net, but I want to learn PHP for several reasons.
Thank you. I'll keep this forum informed. Tim |
