TalkPHP - Need to get XML file using a curl alternative

I really need your help and expertise on this. And I hope you can help!

I need to get an XML file from a remote location, the file uses authentication and it's an https connection. My server doesn't have CURL support. I need to get that XML file and parse it some how to display all the information. I just need to do GET functions on it, not POST. This is a connection to digitalmeasures.com, if anyone is curious.

I've searched for curl alternatives, but I was unsuccessful. What are my options, people? Lay it out for me, it is a time sensitive project. *!*
