Can Zend with Eclipse work with MySQL?

Not to turn you guys into the tech support for zend with eclipse, but can it do MySQL stuff in the editor..? What are its MySQL capabilities?

If you mean maintaining your tables and using phpMyAdmin (sort of), yes.

Like... Does it have it's own version of MySQL, so if I make a query, it will store it in its down database-like thing?

No, you need to connect to an existing MySQL server.

What about code assist? Does it popup or does it take hours of configuration for the thing to work right? (does it use crappy syntax highlighting, like mostly not standard or hard-to-see forms)

Code assist is enabled by default. The only thing you might want to change is the time it takes to trigger. And about syntax highlighting, the default color schemes are very good (for me at least), but you can always customize them as you prefer.

So, can you set it to pop up instantly?

xenon 02-16-2008 12:39 AM

Of course. Set it to 0 ms.

Hi Aaron,

Here is a screenshot of Zend Studio for Eclipse's MySQL integration - should give you a good idea of what it can do.

Your best bet is to download the 30 day trial and have a play :-)
