Default I am done with tuts! Where do I begin?

So, I'm finally done with all the tutorials. I have learned the basics of php and mysql. What should I do to start coding? What kind of projects should I undertake. I wanna test myself on what I have learned. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Make any php and mysql application, you would want. Or have dreamed of doing. :] Like making a simple bulletin board. You said you took all the tutorials, so I figure you wouldn't have much of a problem making such one. :]

Have a go at making a simple blog. Doesn't need to have anything fancy such as pings/trackbacks just something simple that allows you to post entries and allows others to view them

When I was starting out I found that it held my concentration better if I could see the application in action as it progressed. For example, for the blog, I would just make the viewing part (with some test data), then make the posting part, then add on a little keyword system, then a rating system, then comments, etc.

It's much more fun to see it progress rather than have 3 pages of features and no idea where to start coding

Good luck!

Alan

Agreed with Alan's post about progress. Most people who just learned the basics of php and sql creates a CMS to handle their portfolio as part of their first project.

Just an idea =)
