Where to start

So i'm quite new to php and coding. Before I have only used html.

Tizag Tutorials is a good website to start with a lot of web based languages. Also if you are really interested in learning PHP...its a good idea to buy a PHP book.

I never found PHP books to be of any real advantage when I was first learning PHP. All the basic PHP articles can be found easily on the Internet. It's when you begin getting into the more advanced stuff you should consider buying books, in my opinion.

As Rendair pointed out, Tizag is a good place for articles, and of course, TalkPHP is a great place to ask questions relating to PHP amongst other languages - and to mix with other PHP developers :-) !

I find books can get your started well because they give you projects and ideas on how you can use your new skills. I guess the same can be done on the internet, but guess it depends how you like to learn really :-P

i started with reading php5 fast and easy web development by julie meloni

its a really good book. i read it from front to back. the reason why i chose this book is she explains php really well and doesnt use hard to understand english in it.

So now I have studyd the articles form w3school and tizag.com and I understand them quite well.
Are there any sites what contain php exercises or something like that for beginners?

You mean Tutorials?
Here you go:
PHP Coding Tutorials - Search for PHP Coding Tutorials on Pixel2Life

I wouldn't do anything too advanced yet, considering you're only a beginner, I'm not even good with Advanced Programming, and I've been doing a bit of PHP for a while now(over a year so).. Though I'm starting as of now..

Heres another great Tutorial site I know of:
PHP Tutorials TutorialCode.com

And heres a place where they discuss questions, and answer them with the best answer it could be, plus it solves your Problems, and they give Articles, Tips, Tricks, hell sounds like the perfect Site for me, and others:
TalkPHP - Welcome To TalkPHP

( hehe, I felt like doing that, I ment what I said :D )

This stuff really helped me out as a beginner. It would be a good idea to go through all this guys videos and then buy a WROX Beginning PHP5 book at your local book store after that. That way, you know how php works, and you have a solid foundation from the book to build on.
