Default The Xtra Diary: Abercrombie & Fitch... are they losing thread?

WIRES got a little crossed this week when Diary tried to contact Abercrombie and Fitch on the other side of the Atlantic.
GQ magazine editor Dylan Jones recently said that the US clothing giant's plans to open a children's branch on Savile Row would be "anathema" to what the area stands for, adding: "It would be like putting a bank in Tin Pan Alley or a casino in Stratford-upon-Avon."
The retail behemoth was asked to respond to these claims, but it looks like the message may have landed in the wrong pigeonhole, or perhaps even the wrong "ball park".
Erin, from the customer service department, responded: "Hey, thanks for emailing us about your idea for a new store in Savile Row. We're always looking for new opportunities at Abercrombie UK. While it's possible we might open a store in Savile Row some day we don't have any plans to do so at the moment.
"And remember, you can always shop for the latest merchandise at abercrombie and fitch"
Abercrombie & Fitch declined to comment when asked about the plans last year.
