Default The new guy...

Well, I happened to stumble upon this site yesterday and it seems to be a very helpful site. I am hoping to learn a thing or two from here as well as try to give as much information and knowledge I have learned through my years as a PHP programmer.

I haven't been a part of a community in a long time. I look forward to the time on this site.

I am a self-taught programmer. I started working on phpBB forum MODs and have since moved onto larger projects. I am the creator of MPSMOD, a social networking tool for phpBB forums. I have been pushing the new version off due to a lack of free time and the rudeness from peoples emails for not developing an opens-source project fast enough. I am going to be rewriting the entire project to work with their new, not that it's so new anymore, version but time seems to elude me. I am hoping that by spending time on a community, it will spark my interest in open-source development again.

I am currently a full-time student, online classes... I know, I know... I also work a full-time job doing what I enjoy, PHP! I am working on my AAIT degree and eventually getting a degree in computer science. I do not feel that school says too much about any programmer; in fact, I believe it has a negative effect. Everything that I have seen from the new out-of-the-box programmers from these colleges is that they have no clue to standards and new methods. The only thing they seem to be good at is having an ego the size of Texas... This seems to be a serious issue, or perhaps I am just too picky with my code.I am hoping to join a community that can be helpful and educational without the costly overhead of some other sites...

I look forward to my time here and I hope I can find and give some useful information.
