I have Ubuntu, it is my fist install and I found it very easy all around.

There is really no "best" distro for a developer, all distros run the same linux kernel, they just work slightly differently up front. I don't see that as a huge issue since any self respecting linux user should know how to work the command line opposed to relying off of a GUI.
