I'd hate to read something that old with the author using techniques or functions that are either deprecated or just about to be so I want to make sure that I am investing my time in something that is still going to be useful....

The book covers more programming concepts than language specifics IIRC (I will check it again when I get home), so it is not outdated or depreciated. There haven't been too many massive changes to PHP since version 5 came out anyways.
As for other books, that is one of the only books I have read on PHP, I get almost everything online. I haven't actually programmed anything (outside of help stuff) in PHP for months now either. |
