I think I fall into that category as well, that's why I've been trying to become a better programmer with better techniques.
For just about 10 years, I've been able to get away with just coming up with code to make things work with a somewhat good understanding but never really a good deep understanding of the fundamentals. So now it is my mission to get to a point where everything is really clear to me.
