You're definitely right. I found them annoying, too. But then I found Zend Framework. It is a peach! You're right though, undoubtedly, coding something such as a framework will help you a lot, as it did with me when I coded my own a couple of years ago. Until I realised then that using a consistently maintained framework is the key, so I can concentrate on pure ideas. It's a good step though, as I say, and so best of luck !
