It would've been nice to get a long, detailed introduction to your site. But these days it's much more common just to post a link and say "hey, click it!". As for being competition, TalkPHP is a very niche forum whereas yours is trying to cover a slightly wider area and isn't just "a PHP forum". I'm happy enough to keep the link.

Good luck with it, I might register and post a bit if the site sticks around for a while. Also, the range of forums on offer seem a little restricted for a general web dev forum. I'd suggest a little wider scope: how about the Python, Ruby, etc. discussions; a section for "running" but nothing on servers, hosting, server-management, etc.. I know the place is only new but it just feels a little confused at the moment (in the sense that only bits and pieces of "web dev" are covered) but it's something that will probably work itself out organically over time.

The design is nice, nothing much else to say about it really. The colours don't sit particularly well with me but that's entirely personal choice and the layout/structure is just another forum.
