header() function wont work

i was using microsofts expression web, and the funny thing is i tried opening the file with notpad++ , dreamweaver and the special characters wouldnt show. but once i opened it with notpad there it was
thats why i was getting 1's. so if your getting headers sent when you dont have any whitespace or anyhthing anywehre open in notepad when in doupt.
The reason for that is, Notepad does not support line breaks.
